Sarah Smith FCCA MAAT
Sarah has worked in finance for over 20 years. She began her career with one of the largest international accounting firms where her initial focus was on supporting sustainable growth across a broad range of organisations in a business advisory capacity, before joining one of the fastest growing regional business advisory practices in the UK. Sarah has subsequently worked internationally with both a publishing company and a listed financial services business in Sydney, Australia.
Upon returning to the UK Sarah secured the role of Head of Finance in a children’s charity and progressed to become Director of Finance and finally Chief Operating Officer, working across the organisation with responsibility for finance, HR, facilities management and IT. This role gave her the opportunity to be involved with the quality and impact of the services being provided and she worked closely with the service delivery team, gaining exposure to the issues affecting young people and the service provided.
Sarah said “I have become very aware of the disparity of opportunities for young people and feel passionately about ensuring all young people are given sufficient support and opportunities to enable them to reach their true potential. Finance plays a key role in this by ensuring that resources are distributed and managed effectively to enable services to be delivered to greatest effect.”
Sarah loves to have family and friends visit from across the country, but is generally found outside at the moment, trying to transform a mud pit into a garden, along with her husband and two young daughters.
