Jon Coe
Jon Coe has an excellent range of experience at strategic and operational levels, including work as a Policy Advisor at the Department for Education focusing on measures to improve school standards and effectiveness.
Jon has also worked as Head of Policy for a regional public sector body (SW Regional Development Agency) with responsibilities for developing the Regional Economic Strategy and interpreting / implementing national economic development policy (including FE and HE) at a regional level.
Both roles required a strong understanding of the political / national context for education and working with a range of delivery bodies to agree and monitor action ‘on the ground’.
Jon has also had experience as a teacher, and latterly as Deputy and Head Teacher, which has provided Jon with significant operational experience of all aspects of the primary school environment, including the relationship between Multi-Academy Trusts and their constituent schools.
In Jon’s current role, as Deputy Director of an Initial Teacher Training body, he has specific responsibility for marketing and communications, infrastructure development, and leading training in areas including how children learn, safeguarding, and academic studies.
Jon also has previous experience as a non-exec board member of a not-for-profit organisation (the South West Regional Observatory) providing strategic oversight and fulfilling the formal/legal responsibilities that come with the role.
