ACE People


Within our ACE Schools we have a number of teams working collaboratively together along with our Central Services Team.  Our Central Services team offer professional advice, support and guidance and are based at our Totnes St John’s Primary School.


Cheryl started teaching in primary education in 1996 and became headteacher of Shaldon Primary in 2011 and, as a result of the school having achieved an outstanding OFSTED, Cheryl took on the role of a National Leader of Education. Shaldon Primary won a national Character Education Award in 2015 and was also nominated as Primary School of the Year in 2017. Having a particular interest in character and values-led education, the school started the ACE Trust in 2016. Character Education continues to be the focus for the Trust with the development of a bespoke curriculum. Cheryl is currently undertaking an MBA in Educational Leadership to further her knowledge and skills in this role.

Katy was deputy Head at Collaton St Mary before moving to her headship at Galmpton 7 years ago. She is an executive Headteacher with responsibility for developing Christian distinctiveness in our Church schools. In addition to this she is the Strategic need for Special educational needs across the Trust.

William has been a member of the Trust for the last four years, initially joining as Headteacher of Redhills Community Primary School in Exeter and progressing to become Executive Headteacher at Totnes St John’s C of E Primary School and Berry Pomeroy C of E. He leads on standards and assessment across the trust and is very interested in evidence based leadership.

Cristy joined the Trust as a Head of School at Collaton St Mary and in September 2019 progressed to become Executive Lead for Collaton St Mary & Brixham C of E Primary School. She remains the Head Teacher of Brixham C of E Primary and has moved into the role of School Improvement Lead across the Trust. Cristy is passionate about pedagogy.

Nick is the ACE lead for Innovation and development. His beliefs have been shaped by his experiences of working in many advisory and research roles both Nationally and Internationally. Nick is a passionate advocate of values led leadership and learning.

Sam holds a BSc (hons) in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management and has worked for over 15 years in educational catering and providing consultancy around school food and supporting local schools with their in-house provision.  Sam is passionate about school food, health and nutrition, food education and community partnerships.

Rozel has worked for the Trust since 2016 and her previous background was in HR before she joined the education sector.  Rozel works closely with the Trust Leader and also takes a lead on Governance, which is of a particular interest to her.  Rozel is also the Trust's DPO.  Rozel enjoys the collaborative aspect of her role working with a number of different stakeholders within the community.

Jacinta has recently joined the Trust’s Finance Department as a Finance administrator. She has over 40 years of financial experience having worked in various industries including banking, retail and manufacturing.  She is now enjoying working within an educational environment, enabling her to apply her experience to the Trust’s financial systems and processes.

Wendy has a background of working within education as a Safeguarding Officer and SEND lead for many years and progressing to become Strategic Safeguarding and Inclusion Lead within the Trust. Wendy has a specialist interest in strategic safeguarding, training and enjoys working collaboratively with the Trust’s safeguarding teams in ensuring children are safe with the best outcomes. She leads on the strategic safeguarding and inclusion.

Sarah has over 20 years experience in finance.  Having worked across business advisory and industry, including a period in Australia, she was previously Chief Operating Officer at a national children’s charity.  She works closely with each school and the central team to ensure strong controls alongside a tailored approach and added value

Lisa joined the Trust in October 2018 and has worked in finance for over twelve years. In her role as Finance Officer Lisa deals with the daily financial and administrative work within the accounts department of the Trust. Professionalism, integrity and collaboration are key values that Lisa holds to the forefront of all her work.

Jess joined the Trust in September 2020 initially starting as an apprentice, completing her level 3 AAT alongside her work. After completing her A-Levels in Business, Economics and French, she felt like a finance apprenticeship was the perfect fit and was delighted when the opportunity arose with the Trust. She works alongside the rest of the finance team with a particular focus on the purchase ledger.

Greg has an extensive facilities background and has worked within the hospitality industry before moving to Devon. Greg has been working within education for over two years with a focus on school site management, estates and health and safety.  Greg ensures that the Trust remains compliant and he particularly enjoys collaborating and working on various estates projects with the schools.
