Gill's career to date has involved; Excellence in teaching and learning in compulsory education system – thirteen years of experience teaching 11- 18 age range in a range of comprehensive schools; Excellence in teaching and learning in Higher Education - 12 years working in two higher education institutions teaching on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; Outstanding contribution to consultancy and external body work - work for local authorities managing and delivering high quality continued professional development for secondary school staff, advising on curriculum development for schools, advising Higher Education on development of the 14-19 qualifications, external examining for higher education undergraduate degree programmes.

In all of these activities four key elements stand out in her approach to high quality teaching and learning. Her underpinning philosophy of inclusive education showing strong professional values that respect individual learners and diverse learning communities; The high quality of the design and planning of learning activities that are informed by her own and others research in the field; Her drive for continued professional development to be at the forefront of pedagogic ideas and core knowledge underpinning her subject and her passion and enthusiasm for innovation showing the use and value of appropriate learning technologies.
