Philip Mantell
Foundation Director - Ethos and Distinctiveness

In a career lasting 41 years, Philip was a Headteacher for over 23 years – at Collaton St. Mary then St. Marychurch Primary Schools in Torbay. Previously he was Deputy Head in Brixham and started his career in Wiltshire and Bournemouth. Following headship, he was Diocesan Director of Education in Exeter diocese for five years. In this role he was fully engaged in developing ethos and distinctiveness of his schools as well as school improvement and the academy model. He has worked with the Regional Commissioner and DfE officers on a very regular basis. Since 2012 he has been a Foundation governor at Galmpton C of E Primary School and recently Vice Chair.

Philip is also very involved in his local church at Churston Ferrers and more latterly at Torbay Deanery level.
