Shaldon Primary shortlisted for Primary School of the Year

Wednesday 23 May 2018

Shaldon Primary School is delighted to have been shortlisted for the 2018 TES Primary School of the Year Award.

This is a national award, which recognises the most outstanding institutions from around the country and the work they do to support and develop the young people in their care. Shaldon has been recognised, not only for the richness of its curriculum, but its work on character development. Initiatives include the ‘Pen Pals’ project, run in conjunction with local charity Volunteering in Health, which links pupils from Year 6 with senior members of the local community (who are on average 70 years older than the children) and the weekly visits to residents at Teignbridge House Care Home.

Representatives from the school will attend the gala awards evening at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 22nd June, when the overall winner will be announced.

‘Regardless of the final result, the school is very proud of having been shortlisted and the recognition it provides for the hard work of all its staff.’ Mr Jon Coe, Head of School.
